Elfin Forest Recreational Reserve is a dog-friendly area in Escondido, CA. Your pooch is welcome to join you on the 11 miles of trails that wind around the public area. Along the way, you can stop off at one of the picturesque picnic spots for a bite to eat and enjoy a scenic mountain view. Trees in the park include oak riparian, oak woodland, coastal sage scrub, and chaparral. There are lots of other animals that call the park their home, maybe you'll spot them whilst exploring with your pooch. California leash law is enforced, and dogs must remain on leash at all times on the “Way Up” Trail and Lower Trails. Monday through Friday dogs under effective voice command are permitted off leash at the top of the “Way Up” Trail (only beyond the designated marker). On Saturday, Sunday, and holidays dogs are required to remain on leash at all times throughout the Reserve. Additionally, dogs must remain on leash in parking lots, picnic areas, overlooks, or any time they become a nuisance to people, property, and wild or domestic animals.
